When VeeJay Records issued Love Me Do/P.S. I Love You in Spring 1964, they put it on their subsidiary Tollie label so it wouldn't "compete" with Beatles 45s already out on VJ. They needn't have bothered; in the midst of Beatlemania it didn't matter what label the Fabs were on. Even though the recordings were 18 months old, Love Me Do raced to the top of the Hot 100 in April '64.
