This item is from the collection of Dr. Jim Seaver, host of "Opera Is My Hobby" for 59 years. Seaver began his opera show just four days after KANU-FM (now Kansas Public Radio) signed on the air. “Opera Is My Hobby” isn’t just the longest-running program on Kansas Public Radio, it’s one of the longest continuously running programs in the history of radio. Until Seaver’s death in 2011, it was the second-longest-running public radio show with its original host.
