An original Winchester Pressing first press vinyl, LP, album copy of The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd (1973), Harvest Records, Catalog# SMAS-11163, Gatefold jacket. This is the 1st issue with "INTERPAK™ Pats. Pending" in the bottom right corner inside the gatefold.
The LP jacket: In VG- (Very Good Minus) condition with corner wear (the upper left and right corners are in rough shape), edge wear, a few creases, spine wear, general wear, and ring wear. The original inner sleeve is in good shape with a couple of creases.  The vinyl LP: In VG+ (Very Good Plus) condition with a couple of light marks/light scratches. These should not affect the playback of the record. It is still VERY shiny & glossy! Both inner labels look good with some spindle marks.
This is the eighth studio album by Pink Floyd, and it was originally released back on March 1, 1973. What I find interesting through research is that Pink Floyd debuted all of these songs even before the album was officially released. They played these songs during a 1972-1973 tour. Can you imagine being in the audience and hearing the songs that would be become The Dark Side of the Moon for the first time?
A concept album, The Dark Side of the Moon explores themes such as conflict, greed, time, death and mental illness. Snippets from interviews with the band's road crew are featured alongside philosophical quotations. The sleeve, which depicts a prism spectrum, was designed by Storm Thorgerson in response to keyboardist Richard Wright's request for a "simple and bold" design, representing the band's lighting and the album's themes. The album was promoted with two singles: "Money" and "Us and Them". The album went to #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. In the United States The Dark Side of the Moon sold 8,360,000 copies. Worldwide it sold some 45,000,000 copies.
