FAIRPORT CONVENTION -
Unhalfbricking
CLASSIC ULTRA RARE ALBUM
ISLAND
ILPS 9102
1st UK Press 1969
Ultra Heavy vinyl
Machined matrices: A//1 B//1
This auction is for a top copy of Fairport's third album and their second on the Island label. An absolute rarity in its own right in any condition as a first press on the pink "block" logo. This copy must be an upgrade for 99% of collectors. I have never seen this album as a very first press in such absolutely stunning condition. Barely played and well looked after and archived. This has been stored under the right conditions and inside a polythene sleeve in a dust free environment for all its life.
Unhalfbricking is the third album by the British band and their second album released in 1969. It is seen as a transitional album in their history and marked a further musical move away from American influences towards more traditional English that had begun on their previous album, and reached its peak on the follow-up, , released later the same year.
As well as featuring several, at the time, unreleased songs, the album also marked 's arrival as a songwriter, with "", a song covered by many other performers and now regarded as a classic. The only traditional song on the album, "", is seen as pivotal in the development of English folk rock music.
Changes in the line-up of the band, due not only to its musical direction but also to external events, mark this album as a turning point in the band's history. 1969 was a prolific year for Fairport Convention; from What We Did on Our Holidays to Liege & Lief within twelve months represented a major development.
The album also gave the band their first UK chart success, reaching number 12 in the (the second highest position in the band's entire career), while the single release, "", achieved number 21 in the .(wiki)
Vinyl: EX +. A fantastic upgrade. This is a seriously desirable ORIGINAL album and very rare in this great condition!!! It does not get much better than this. This has no marks or hairlines. I have played two tracks on my Linn Sondek/Arcam/B&W set up and the audio was truly stunning. This is nowadays gold dust and very hard indeed to still find as an original!!! The vinyl has a beautiful glossy sheen on both sides and has barely seen any play. A definite upgrade for most and sensationally rare indeed!! No spindle traces on the labels, which are crediting Joe Boyd Witchseason Productions.
Sleeve: EX. A great single sleeve with barely any wear. This sleeve is very flimsy but is still in great shape. No creases, and the colours have been well preserved. The opening is still super crisp! The spine has light wear, the band name is fully readable but the title has some wear as does the bottom edge. The top edge is really nice with barely any wear. This is a lovely sleeve housing a top notch vinyl.
This is a unique investment opportunity!!! The next prog album to go completely through the roof. Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. Get this while you still can. This value of the album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price.
Important : International postage will be registered and insured if over GBP 30.00. In the UK, if over £100.00 this will be sent special delivery. Please wait for an amended invoice before paying. Postage will be according to Royal Mail rates. Postage is NOT a money spinning exercise for me.
Though there are rarely ever any problems with my items, I always try my very best to describe everything exactly! PLEASE REMEMBER to contact me FIRST, if you have any problems at all, before you leave feedback and star ratings, so I get a chance to turn any negative experience into a positive one! I can always happily sort anything out for you, if you let me know you have a problem! This way no one has to leave Negative/Neutral feedback - and we both walk away happy! Similarly with the amount of stars, anything less than a full 5 * rating is effectively detrimental to a seller's rating as lower ratings will incur higher Final Value Fees and lower priority in the bid lists eventually making it unattractive to list items on Ebay at all. I know of at least one major previous Ebay seller who has decided not to list via Ebay again. Please do NOT bid if you cannot give me at least 1 chance to sort everything out to your FULL satisfaction in the unlikely event of a problem. Thanks again!!
This an excellent investment opportunity!!! Any questions please ask me and I will try to answer soon.
