A 4-lot of classic vinyl, LP, album copies of 52nd Street by Billy Joel, Greatest Hits by Elton John, Give the People What They Want by The Kinks, and London Town by Wings.
1. An original first pressing vinyl, LP, album copy of Wings- London Town (1978), Capitol Records. Catalog #SW-11777, Everything is in EX (Excellent) condition. The album went to #2 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
London Town charted in the top five positions in the UK and the US. It failed to repeat the success of Wings' three previous albums, however, and received mostly unfavourable reviews from music critics. The lead single, "With a Little Luck", was a number 1 hit in the US, but the album's subsequent singles achieved only minor chart success. Also recorded during the sessions was the 1977 non-album single "Mull of Kintyre", which, until 1984, was the best-selling single in UK chart history.
2. An original first pressing copy of Give the People What They Want - The Kinks (1981), Arista Records, Catalog# AL 9567. The LP jacket is in VG+ condition with corner wear, edge wear, wear near the jacket opening. A bit of ring wear. The inner sleeve is VG+ with some wrinkles. Vinyl record: Nice shine & gloss with a few light scratches that should not affect playback. Both inner labels are clean with some spindle marks.
This is the nineteenth studio album by the band The Kinks released in the US on August 15, 1981. Three singles: One US - "Destroyer" and two UK- "Better Things" and "Predictable".
3. Elton John's Greatest Hits (1974), First pressing, Gloversville Pressing, MCA Records, Catalog# MCA 2128. LP jacket: I repaired the bottom where it had a split, so the masking tape could be removed. I also repaired the inner sleeve where one side had come unglued. Jacket is in G+ condition, Inner sleeve is VG+, and vinyl record is VG condition.
This is the first compilation album and eleventh album by Elton John released in November 1974. It spans songs recorded between 1970-1974, compiling ten singles with track variations between the US vs. Europe and Australia releases. It was a #1 album on the US Billboard 200 chart and stayed at #1 for ten consecutive weeks. The album was certified 17x Platinum by the RIAA for selling 17 million copies in the United States.
4. A first pressing, Terre Haute Pressing vinyl, LP, album copy of 52nd Street by Billy Joel (1978), Columbia Records, Catalog# FC 35609. The LP jacket is in VG+ condition with a bit of wear on the spine, corner wear, and edge wear. A bit of ring wear. The inner sleeve is in VG condition with a tear at the top and some wrinkles. Vinyl record: In VG+ condition with a couple of light scratches. These should not affect playback of the album. It still has nice shine & gloss. Both inner labels are clean & complete.
This is the sixth studio album by Billy Joel released on October 11, 1978. Because of the success of his previous album The Stranger Billy hired various jazz musicians to give the album a fresh sound, and to differentiate from previous albums. It was a #1 album on the US Billboard 200 chart. It was certified 7x Platinum by the RIAA for selling 7 million copies in the United States.
