Overseas Highway Inner Trance Lp.
Key west Florida garage band. I found this inner trance lp and two cds when I was down in key west on vacation at the Salvation Army store. it’s a test pressing with a killer psych cover and back cover photo of the band in a garage. different than any from the other lps that I have seen. this is a meditation type psych to a heavy Hendrix psych. Johnny king rips a loud garage guitar on little wing with a beautiful guitar and vocal introduction to the song. he also plays a cool psychedelic guitar on all along the watch tower with great wah wah on all three Hendrix tunes including up from the sky’s. hard for anyone in my option to play Hendrix like this especially finding out recently that they were all only 16 17 and 18 years old when they did most of these tunes 70 to 74. the drummer also does a solo Hendrix type guitar thing at the end of the lp spirit of Jimi that is very heart felt you would think is a lost Hendrix recording. it puts me in a trance zone every time I hear it. they obviously were all into Hendrix at the time. but some of the lp actually reminds me of the Beatles a little. like mystery tours blue jay way. with jimmy dean the drummer playing guitar and vocals on this and Johnny king on bass the track notes out of space. There is a five minute track on side one of the lp sunshine maker that is a really nice journey in itself. cinnamon on side one was recorded by jimmy and the undertakers pre overseas highway deans early days with Perez the only organ track on the lp from 1969. it’s a beautiful psychedelic acid induced carnival piece that always takes me back to the times when I hear it. there is also spoken effects on valley of darkness and heavy psych fuzz bass on out of it and overseas railroad express. The inner trance track on this lp is different than the inner trance on the prism of soul lp. it starts with Johnny kings meditation vocals om om going into a Indian style guitar and drums with beautiful Cymbals eventually exploding into ten seconds of heavy psych guitar and drums then flowing into Purple microdot like the peek of a trip or journey you come back to reality with the following track wake up little Susie. the lp winds down with some nice coming back to earth jams before a garage blues vocal you have to hear to believe baby how you shake that thing. then drifting off with spirit of jimi to end the lp.
