Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. (Matthew 5:14) LIGHTHOUSE. What a befitting title for an album, particularly this one. From the very first moment that the Singing Hinsons walk on stage, the impact of their sincerity and dynamic drive and enthusiasm hits you full force. Momentarily you are breathless and dumbfounded because before you on the stage is a group of kids that is singing REAL gospel music, not trying to imitate, instigate, demonstrate, or agitate, but only to RELATE the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ through gospel music. The Singing Hinsons possess every ingredient to be most successful in the gospel music field: a combination of the sweetness of Yvonne, the charm of Ronnie, the virtuosity of Kenny, and humor of little Larry, and the deep love they all have for God make them what this title suggests, a LIGHTHOUSE. There is nothing pretentious about any of them or anything they undertake to do. The talents of the bass guitarist, Rick Howeth, and the way big Chet handles the drums make them all the greater. The state of California dearly love their Singing Hinsons. They have been a shining LIGHTHOUSE to many souls throughout that great state, but we Easterners are asking ourselves, when will we be blessed with their presence back this way in some big gospel singings and have the Hinsons to shine that LIGHTHOUSE just for us?
