Description (Purchase in Asia and Europe is cheaper) ■ Release date: May 30, 2022 ■ Product number: SSAR-065-066 ■ JAN code: 4571170529333 ■ Specifications: 33 1/3 rotation (2 discs) ■ Limited production ■ Planning and sales: Stereo Sound Co., Ltd. ■ Production / Release: Universal Music LLC
Sinatra & Basie's live masterpiece LP recording with full analog process To commemorate the 60th anniversary of Frank Sinatra's first performance in Japan (April 1962), this year 2022 was jointly produced by Universal Music and Stereo Sound with the full cooperation of Frank Sinatra Enterprise. The reprint was "Sinatra At The Sands" (original title: Sinatra At The Sands), a set of two analog LP records.
This work "Sinatra Live At The Sands" which recorded the live performed by Frank Sinatra and Count Basie Orchestra (conducted and arranged by Quincy Jones) Hotel in Las Vegas, USA from January to February 1966. "Sands" is an audio masterpiece that is very popular not only for jazz fans but also for audio files due to its good recording. "Stereo Sound" have released the world's first SACD with single layer SACD (+ CD) specifications in 2019, but "Stereo Sound" have fully achieved the analog LP record in the 60th anniversary of our first visit to Japan.
The SACD master sound source is a digital sound source archived in the United States because "Stereo Sound" were particular about using the US original analog master tape. On the other hand, the analog LP record version of this edition is 1/4 inch wide (38 cm / s) dubbed in the United States in 1973 for the production of Japanese LP records, with an emphasis on the analog process because it was made into an LP record. Analog tape was used as the master sound source.
Although this analog tape is nearly half a century old, it was carefully stored in a warehouse in Japan with well-controlled temperature and humidity, so it is in excellent condition without powder falling or stickiness. If you believe the description on the outer box, it was used for cutting only a few times. The essential sound was exactly "America itself of that era" (100% personal feeling of the production team). With the special permission of Universal Music, this board was able to use the analog tape in this excellent condition as it is as a cutting master.
Mr. Shinya Matsushita, who presides over Piccolo Audio Works in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, was in charge of cutting the lacquer board. Full analog with the Telefunken tape deck "M21" combined with Ampex vacuum tube head amplifier, Scarley cutting race "RA1389" and Westrex stereo cutter head "3DIIAH". -Sound is engraved on the lacquer board by the process.
Subsequent plating, pressing, etc. work will be carried out at Sony Music Solutions in Shizuoka. With the advice of Mr. Shoji Sugawara of the jazz cafe "Basie", the disc is a normal 140g board specification (33 1/3 rotation). In addition, the jacket that stores the disc is made by hand, making full use of the craftsmanship of Japan Sleeve, in order to follow the specifications of the early US LP records as much as possible. We hope that you can expect the workmanship of this product.
