Badfinger with Paul McCartney / RARE Apple/Capitol B side label / Come and Get It / 1970 45rpm / NM+
Songs: Come and Get It & Rock of Ages
Rare Badfinger pressing of "Come and Get It" With Capitol logo B-side label. Capitol logo B-side labels, were to be used only for Beatles singles only (Capitol contract artists). By error the Jacksonville plant used these Capitol B-side label on this Badfinger (Apple contract artist) 45. This is a very uncommon pressing. Later pressings of "Come and Get It" used corrected b-side labels. Paul McCartney plays piano and maracas on this recording.
This 45 its in NM+ condition, Super clean and super glossy (see photos). A clean Apple co. sleeve is included.
About Apple Capitol b-side labels: Capitol decided to mark the b-side labels differently for artists who had contracts with Capitol. At the time, this basically meant the Beatles themselves, whose singles were numbered as part of the Capitol series (in the 2000s). Records that were from artists whose discs were in the Apple series (the 1800s) and who had contracts through Apple alone would continue to be marked with “Mfd. by Apple” on the sliced side.
From that point on, records in the Capitol series were marked with the same rim text that the label was currently using on all of their singles and albums. That text reads:
Mfd. by Capitol Records, Inc., a subsidiary of Capitol Industries, Inc., U.S.A. (Capitol logo) ● Marca. Reg. ● U.S. Pat. No. 2,631,859
The appearance of the Capitol dome logo in the rim print is what prompted early collectors to refer to this as the Apple label with the Capitol logo.
The Capitol logo label was intended for Beatles 45s pressings only, although the Jacksonville plant used the label style for Badfinger "Come and Get It" and two John Lennon records through early 1970.
