I first heard the group perform this past spring (May, 1974) at my festival near McClure, Virginia. I was to follow their performance, so I was behind stage listening - and, I must say, enjoying what I heard. After they were called back for a second encore, I began listening even closer. As soon as I finished my performance,! sought out Mr. Charles Freeland (President of Rebel Recording) who was visiting the festival and encouraged him to sign The Marshall family and release an album soon. The next time the group went on stage, Mr. Freeland sat down with me and listened to them sing. After they were finished, he said he would be glad for them to record an album for Rebel. So... here it is, and I think it is a very fine album. Since this spring, The Marshalls have worked many of the Blue Grass festivals - encoring every time they have performed. For all you folks who enjoy good religious singing, this album is a must. To those of you who don't particularly care for Gospel singing, I urge you to give this album an audition and I’m sure that nine out of every ten of you will become Marshall Family fans.
