This album is one of the most unusual ever produced by Tri-State Recording Company. The first session was held in January, 1 970 and included singers BILL and MARY FOGLE MAN, ALVIN GOINS and LYONS SMITHoThe musicians were GERALD SMITH, lead guitar, ALLAN SMITH, bass guitar and rhythm guitar by LYONS SMITH. Four beau- tifulsongs were completed during this sessions KING OF THE JEWS; A GLORIFIED BODY; WHAT HEAVEN MEANS TO ME; and SOMETIMES IT’S HARD TO UNDERSTAND0 Before the next session was held, God inhis loving wisdom called little ALLAN from his wheel chair to come and be with Him, and play in His Heavenly Angel Band. During the following weeks, the Quartet dedicated themselves to finish this album in a manner that ALLAN would have wanted them to. GERALD FRAZIER was chosen to play bass guitar in ALLAN’S place. A steel guitar was add- ed, played by DELMAS BAILEY. With the electronic engineering capabilities of the recording studio, music by the steel guitar was added to the songs A GLORIFIED BODY and SOMETIMES IT’S HARD TO UNDERSTAND that ALLAN had played for in the first session. Finally, the album was finished, and THE HEAVENLY WAY QUARTET gives our precious Lord THANKS! for giving them the strength, courage and hope to carry on His work without ALLAN.
