Experience the musical genius of Les McCann with his 1973 album "Layers". This vintage vinyl LP was released by Atlantic Records with catalog number of SD 1646 and a vinyl matrix number of ST-A-732957-A AT PR 41 / ST-A-732958-A AT PR.
This is a Presswell Pressing and features a black vinyl record with a stereo speed of 33 RPM. The vinyl is graded very good plus (VG+), as is the Gatefold LP cover sleeve. Please review the detailed photos included in this listing. The vinyl is borderline (EX) save for some occasional ticks & pops.
From Wikipedia… gives the album 4½ stars, stating "This groundbreaking jazz synthesizer record is really unlike any other Les McCann ever made. Aside from a three-man percussion section and electric bassist Jimmy Rowser, Layers is entirely electronic, one of the first jazz albums with such an emphasis. ...this music is truly forward-looking and ahead of its time".
The song "Sometimes I Cry" has been sampled in several other songs, most notably in 's "" and its drum beat in 's "" and "".
I played both sides of this LP completely through on my audio-technica AT-LP60XBT turntable without issues. This record plays beautifully and sounds great!
