The group's debut album was the most uncompromisingly blues/R&B-oriented full-length recording they would ever release. Mostly occupied with covers, this was as hardcore as British R&B ever got; it's raw and ready. But the Stones succeeded in establishing themselves as creative interpreters, putting '50s and early-'60s blues, rock, and soul classics (some quite obscure to white audiences) through a younger, more guitar-oriented filter. The record's highlighted by blistering versions of "Route 66," "Carol," the hypertempoed "I Just Want to Make Love to You," "I'm a King Bee," and "Walking the Dog." Their Bo Diddley-ized version of Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away" gave them their first British Top Ten hit (and their first small American one). The acoustic ballad "Tell Me" was Jagger-Richards' first good original tune, but the other group-penned originals were little more than rehashed jams of blues clichés, keeping this album from reaching truly classic status.

Track listing: Not fade away - Route 66 - I just want to make love to you - Honest I do - Now I've got a witness - Little by little - I'm a king bee - Carol - Tell me - Can I get a witness - You can make it if you try - Walking the dog. Please note that track listing of American version of the Rolling Stones’ first album is somewhat different than track listing on UK version of the album (“Rolling Stones, Vol. 1” and that track timings of two tracks are different)

·                          CONDITION:

·                          THE RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)         WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++. A few light abrasions  ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly  insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)         The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)         The record comes in a poly-lined London stock inner sleeve, which has - apparently with success - shielded the vinyl from the harmful impact of elements over many years!

(d)         Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more  preferable to its FAKE ("electronically rechannelled") stereo counterpart. We estimate that FAKE stereo copies of this album outnumber monos by a ratio of at least 15:1.

(e)         The record has a "deep groove" (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings).

(f)          True Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(g)         Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                          THE COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-       Minor touch-ups with the black marker noted on the top and bottom seam, apparently added to camouflage some shelf wear (nothing significant)

-       Cover has three corners slightly dinged (nothing significant)

-       Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2  (front side) and 4 (back side)

-       Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-       Cover has a small ex-libris stamp on the back panel (only partially visible)

-       Cover has a small quality control (inspection) stamp on the back panel

-       Cover has some fraying/wear along the spine

-       Cover has a partially split spine (between 1 and 2 inches  / 2.5 to 5 centimeters)

NO OTHER VISIBLE FLAWS OR IMPERFECTIONS ON THE  COVER
