REMEMBER MY NAME IN YOUR PRAYERS The original McComas Quartet: Nellie Winters, Watt McComas, Edgar McComas, Wilda Adkins. The original McComas Quartet was organized in 1927 and started their singing career in a little coal mining camp at Amherstdale in Logan County. It was made up of Edgar McComas, Watt McComas, Wilda Adkins and Nellie Winters. Later Watt’s two sons, Wetzel and Clifton “Hoot” McComas, joined the group. Hoot’s daughter, Barbara McComas, joined the group when only a child, making the third generation of singers. She later married Lonnie Scragg, who also joined the group. All of the original members are still living except Watt. We, the McComas Quartet, would like to dedicate our first album to the memory of Watt McComas, who unselfishly devoted his life to God, and singing, which he loved so well. He is gone but his memory will always be with us. It seems as though we can still hear him singing. The McComas Quartet sings for the glory of God, in church services, revivals and singing conventions, anywhere we may be of service and a blessing to someone along the way. We travel thousands of miles to spread the gospel in song. The present Quartet consists of Clifton “Hoot” McComas, Lead; Barbara McComas Scragg, Alto; Lonnie Scragg, Tenor; George Chapman, Bass and Guitar; Johnny Scragg, Bass Guitar. We pray that this album may be a blessing to you. The McComas Quartet Route 1, Box 271 Salt Rock, W. Va. 25559 0903
