Grading: All grading is visual unless otherwise noted. We simply cannot play all of our thousands of albums before listing them. Below are the grading standards we apply to our albums:
NM: A near-mint album will look "new" when received (both the vinyl and the sleeves). It may have been played quite a few times but has always been extremely well cared for. The previous owner loved this record and treated it accordingly.
VG+: An excellent record, close to NM but with a few minor blemishes. Record will be glossy. Light scratches or scuffs can be seen but generally will not be heard except for during the most quiet parts of the record. A minor warp can be present but will not noticeably affect audio quality. It will sound really nice. The sleeve or outer cover will have only minimal sign of wear. It will look pretty but will have signs of prior handling, shelving, storage, etc. It can have a seam split up to an inch long, or an owner's name written on it. The previous owners really liked this album and treated it accordingly.
VG: A very good record, similar to VG+ but with more defects. This record won't be as shiny or glossy as the ones above. Scratches and scuffs can not only be see but can be felt. You'll start to hear defects in the less-quiet passages but the noise does not overpower the music. The outer sleeve will show moderate signs of prior handling, shelving storage, etc. It will look good but maybe not pretty. It can show ring-wear, could have some tape, writings on it, seam splits longer than an inch, etc. The previous owners liked this album and treated it accordingly, but hey they could have done a better job.
G: A good record. It will show more defects than the ones graded above it. It will sound noisy at times but will play-through on most turntables without skipping. Sometimes if your tonearm is a little light or your tracking is dialed down, it could skip though. A lot of that depends on your system setup. This record will be a generally good listen but with clear flaw throughout. The outer sleeve can look rough but will be complete. The previous owners rode this album hard and put it away wet, so to speak. You can give it a better home!
