This is a combo of 2 cd's and a soft cover book wriiten by me (Ron Hall) and published by Shangri-La Projects in 2001. The book "Playing For A Piece Of The Door: A History Of Garage And Frat Bands in Memphis 1960-75" covers groups that cut at least one 45 in Memphis during the 60's to early 70's. Some came from Arkansas, No. Mississippi, W. Tennessee, but mostly they were Memphis garage bands. I've searched five years for members of these groups and have tried to tell each bands story. I include a discography for each group and list members. Psych groups like the Changin' Tymes, Los Angeles Smog Division, true garage like the Breakers, Jades, Lawson & Four More, Escapades, Shadden & The King Lears, and frat groups like Tommy Burk & The Counts, LeSabres,Chasers, Ponees, and many more. 172 pages, 110 groups from The Gentrys, Big Star, Guilloteens, Sam The Sham, Box Tops, to The Shouts, Leviathan, Honey Jug,and The Coachmen.
