VISUALLY, THE THICK VINYL PLATTER IS IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION!
I HAVE EXAMINED THIS UNDER BRIGHT LIGHT AND SEE THAT THE THICK RARE PLATTER HAS RETAINED ALL OF IT'S DEEP ORIGINAL LUSTER. PLENTY OF SHINE HERE! I DO NOT SEE ANY SCRATCHES OR HAIRLINES, JUST A FEW EXTREMELY LIGHT SLEEVE SCUFFS/MARKS! THE VINYL APPEARS TO BE IN UN-PLAYED CONDITION! I GRADE THE VINYL AS NRMT!
THE LABELS ARE FREE OF ANY WRITING OR STICKERS, AND NRMT AS WELL!
OVERALL I GRADE THE VINYL AS NRMT!
THE COVER IS STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP AND PRESENTS EXCEPTIONALLY WELL! THERE ARE TWO 1-2" SPLITS JUST STARTING AT THE MOUTH OF THE UPPER & LOWER SEAMS. THERE IS VERY LITTLE EVIDENCE OF ANY RING/SHELF WEAR TO FRONT SIDE AND VERY MINOR WEAR TO THE REVERSE.! THE REVERSE SIDE LINER NOTES ARE INFORMATIVE TOTALLY READABLE.A PORTION OF THE SHRINK HAS TORN AWAY (UPPER LEFT CORNER)
THERE ARE SOME MINOR STAINS/DINGS/CREASES/SCUFFS & SOILING AS SHOWN.
BASED ON
THE ABOVE IMPERFECTIONS THE COVER GRADES EX+
I HAVE PLAY GRADED THIS AND THE LISTENING EXPERIENCE WAS OUTSTANDING!!! IF YOU LISTENED VERY VERY CLOSELY THERE WAS SOME EXTREMELY MINOR NOISE OCCASIONALLY NOTICEABLE MOSTLY IN THE QUITE PASSAGES. (INHERENT TO THE PRESSING NOT FROM ANY MARKS!) BUT NOTHING DISTRACTING IN ANY WAY! YOU REALLY HAVE TO BE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO NOTICE ANYTHING. THIS BABY PLAYS LOUD & PROUD!
THERE WERE NO SKIPS, STICKS OR DISTRACTING POPS, HISSES, CLICKS,TICKS OR BURPS! THE LISTENING EXPERIENCE GRADES NRMT!!
CONSIDERING ALL OF THE ABOVE I GIVE THIS LP AN OVERALL GRADE OF NRMT- (MINUS)
A consummate showman whose private life was as explosive as his legendary performances, this iconic hit-maker forever changed the sound of music. Born into poverty in the '30s, as a youth Brown spent time in jail for stealing before finding his calling as an entertainer. In the '50s, he began honing his act with his friend and collaborator Bobby Byrd in the band The Flames, which soon became James Brown and the Famous Flames. In the '60s, the "Godfather of Soul" injected R&B with an infectious funky flare. His offbeat rhythms, catchy hooks, barking vocals and fancy footwork — including awe-inspiring twirls and splits — turned him into a stage star. His mainstream breakthrough came with the 1963 album Live at the Apollo, which captured his electrifying energy on vinyl and became the No. 2 album nationwide. He spent the sixties penning classics such as "I Got You (I Feel Good)," "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag," "Get Up (I Feel Like A) Sex Machine" and the empowering civil rights anthem "Say It Loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud." In the '70s, lively songs like “Hot Pants,” “Make It Funky,” Get on the Good Foot Pt. 1” and “The Payback Pt. 1” flooded dance floors. His music also filled movie theaters, and he provided original scores for soundtracks the films Black Caesar and Slaughter’s Big Rip-Off. In the late '70s, changing musical tastes, as well as Brown's increasingly tumultuous personal life, stalled his career. In the '80s, his career picked up again with memorable appearances in the films The Blues Brothers and Rocky IV, which also featured his smash hit “Living in America.” In 1986, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but two years later his personal troubles caught up with him and he found himself in prison. Though sentenced to six years, he was paroled in 1991. In his later life, Brown at times seemed like a parody of himself. Not only did he make exuberant public appearances (he was a favorite on Howard Stern's radio show), he also constantly popped up in the tabloids due to incidents of spousal and drug abuse. Even his death (which was shocking since he seemed to possess limitless energy) was tainted by scandal: After he passed away from congestive heart failure on Christmas Day 2006, his supposed fourth wife and mother of his youngest child, Tomi Rae Hynie, was locked out of their home when it was determined that they had never been legally married. Despite the scandals, whenever Brown leapt behind a microphone — which, being the self-declared "hardest-working man in show business," was quite often — the outrageous stories melted away, and he became an incomparable force of entertainment. His undeniable talent earned him countless devoted fans, not to mention myriad awards and accolades, including Kennedy Center Honors, two performing Grammys in addition to a lifetime achievement award, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

WE USE GOLDMINE AS GUIDELINE FOR OUR GRADING SYSTEM.
ALL RECORDS ARE VISUALLY INSPECTED UNDER BRIGHT LIGHT. I TRY TO PLAY GRADE WHEN POSSIBLE OR AT LEAST IN ANY AREAS IDENTIFIED AS QUESTIONABLE FROM THE VISUAL INSPECTION.
MINT
Mint records are in most cases sealed in original shrink wrap. The only wear permissible is to the shrink wrap itself.
NEAR-MINT
NM records have glossy vinyl. There are no visible defects such as writing, tape, or stickers on the labels. The labels should not contain any spindle marks(from someone blindly trying to put the record on the turntable) The vinyl may have a few extremely fine hairline scratches or light scuffs that do not affect the sound quality. The vinyl will "appear" to have been unplayed (It may very well have been played and well-cared for)The album cover will haveNO writing, tape, creases, folds, seam splits, stains, ring wear or Promo holes or cuts!
VG+(EXCELLENT)
VG+records have glossy vinyl. Slight signs of wear, including light scuffs, very light scratches or slight warping that does not seriously affect the listening experience is permissible. Very slight intermittent background noise mostly in the quiet passages is acceptable.
The album cover will have no more than three of the following imperfections: light writing such as initials or name in one area, minor creasing, seam splitsnot larger than 1". Neatly taped seams of 2" or less.It may also contain very slight ring wear or discoloration, a promo stamp, punch hole or cut-out as originally sold.
VG
VG Recordshave more obvious flaws such as more pronounced scratches & lack of gloss. Groove wear and scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail are common. When played there will be surface noise but it should not continuously overpower the music. There areNO skips permissible with no more than 1.5 grahams of tracking force. It is common to hear crackling and pops especially in the quiet passages. The labels may contain writing such as a persons name or initials or it may contain a piece of tape or sticker with or without writing. The cover may have some seam splits, writing, tape, stickers, ring wear and scuffs.
VG-
VG- All of the defects listed VG category would be more pronounced. The record will play through without skipping WITH tracking force. A quick skip or two with no more that 2.5 grahams of tracking force are permissible. The record will have many obvious flaws but still enjoyable to listen to. Generally if the record is rare, it is still highly collectible.
G+
Good (G), Good Plus (G+) Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping WITH tracking force. A quick skip or two with no more that 2.5 grahams of tracking force are permissible. It will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear (on a styrene record, the groove will be starting to turn white). A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.
