CARL PERKINS
BOPPIN’ THE BLUES

Carl Perkins was one of the five brightest lights of rockabilly to come out of Sun Records. After hitting with "Blue Suede Shoes," and following up with strong tunes like "Boppin' The Blues," "Dixie Fried" and "Your True Love," he was snatched away from Sun by Columbia Records and somehow the magic vanished. Those 45s he mad with the bright yellow label never could be equaled at Columbia.

This is “Boppin’ The Blues” and hit the streets in June of 1956, only two months after “Blue Suede Shoes.” Despite being one of the best rockabillies of his career, it barely got into the charts, peaking at #70. What were the cloth-eared teenager of 1956 listening to? Guy Mitchell?

On the flipside is another original “All Mama’s Children” which is another great dance number.
CONDITION: VG+ original Sun release.
