When Ace first put out Etta James Modern recordings on vinyl more than 30 years ago, Etta's fame did not extend far beyond a devoted circle of R&B and soul fans. Nowadays her fame is global and every music fan has heard at least one of her stellar vintage recordings. Here they return Etta to Ace vinyl for the first time in many years with this hot rockin , specially conceived compilation of her very best up-tempo sides for Modern Records, recorded between 1954 and 1958. These are by no means the only good tracks that Etta recorded for Modern. You'll find the rest of them on their 2CD set Miss Etta James (CDCM2 1085). But here the emphasis is all on the upbeat, with plenty of scope to jive, stroll and rock n roll from beginning to end.
