Apparently this is the most requested title in Earache's "full dynamic range" erm...range. I can only imagine short-lived Carcass guitarist Carlos Regadas got all his relatives to each give Earache HQ a phone call. Likewise this is described in the notes as "Carcass's classic fifth album". To be considered a classic these days I think all you have to do is just be made over 10 years ago. I remember this album coming out, and I don't know anyone who didn't think it was a turd to be honest. The best thing I remember about it in fact was that the CD was in the shape of a brain. I've given this a listen again to reappraise and time hasn't been overly unkind: to a teenager obsessed with "Reek Of Putrefaction" this was always going to be a stinker, so taken today out of that context and thought of as a straight-up metal album it's ok and not really all that far away from Heartwork to be honest. Limited to 400 on "Free World Blue" vinyl.
