A special 50th Anniversary, heavy vinyl limited edition facsimile reissue of the Fame label's first ever album, by the label's first ever major soul artist. Jimmy Hughes' Steal Away introduced the sound of Southern Soul to the US Hot 100 charts in 1964. It established Jimmy as a major player in the Fame Records story and ensured that his name will never be forgotten among lovers of 1960s soul music. Original copies of the album are far from plentiful, as Fame's distributor Vee Jay was going out of business at the time of release and it was not distributed as widely as it might have been. The Steal Away album is the only one on the entire Fame catalogue to feature the studios first great rhythm section most of which left Muscle Shoals shortly after the sessions, moving to Nashville and become the backbone of the late 60s studio session scene in Music City. Several of Jimmy's other A-sides are featured in this superb album, including Everybody Let's Dance , I'm Getting Better and his follow up hit revival of James Brown's Try Me . Collectors and dealers alike should note that, in order to completely preserve the authenticity of the album, the sleeve still sports the erroneous running order that was a feature of the original 1964 release. The album itself plays in the same order as the original vinyl!
