About UsI have been interested in progressive and electronic rock music for as long as I can remember and have built up a large and varied collection with lots of memorabilia from numerous concerts over the years.
As with a lot of ebayers, I started on this journey looking for specialist items that I was interested in and which were not generally available in the high street shops. This naturally evolved to the stage where I decided to try selling a few of my own items. That was particularly successful and inspired me to expand my selling attempts.
Recently, I have started buying items to sell on. This has been a challenge as not all sellers take as great a pride in their products as I do in mine. Unfortunately, this has led to one or two problems, such as prepackaged items being found to be substandard when opened, but I am pleased to say that in the main my customers have been very good when this has happened and we have been able to resolve any issues to our mutual satisfaction.
Now, I have taken the plunge and opened a shop as well. Here you will find a great mix of things that are not necessarily going to be available in auctions, as well as special promotional sections.
I only do my selling on ebay in my spare time (I have a full time job which also keeps me very busy), so sometimes I am not able to respond as fast as people might like and I apologise in advance if that happens to you.
My Policy
General approach
I take great pride in ensuring that you will want to come back time and again ~ see my high feedback score as evidence of this, over 50% of my customers have bought again.
I am also continually on the lookout for good quality items to sell, so, if you are having a clear out or know someone who is, let me know by mailing me via ebay and we will see what arrangement we can come to.
Feedback
I would request that if a buyer has any complaints they send me an ebay message directly, before leaving neutral or negative feedback, so that we can determine & agree how to resolve the issue. This is far quicker than email as I get hundreds of emails each day.
Shipping Policy
I ship all over the world unless, in some exceptional circumstances, it is stated in the main text of the listing.
If an item weighs less than 2kg, it will usually be sent by Royal Mail.
Anything over 2kg within the UK will be sent by Parcel Force or another courier with tracking provided.
Please remember that posting an item is not only expensive it is also time consuming and this is reflected in any postage charges that are applied to listings.
My Objective is to ensure goods are sent out within 2 business days of you paying for them.
If you choose an un-insured method for your postage when offered it, then you agree that I am not responsible should your item not arrive or arrive broken. Insurance and tracking costs extra and unless stated otherwise in the listing, is not be included in the basic shipping charge.
Postage and Packing
This is the area which generates the most enquiries, both for me and for a number of other sellers, and which I believe is least understood.
Postage and Packing does not just cover the cost of the postage stamps and any recorded delivery / insurance.
I buy packaging materials, often including new CD and DVD cases, envelopes / wallets, labels and printer inks, none of which are particularly cheap.
I pay both ebay and Paypal fees for all my items. These fees have a minimum level which I need to cover - otherwise what is the point of selling the item !
I spend a considerable amount of time preparing the adverts, responding to questions / emails and then packaging items which have been sold (I am quite often up until the early hours of the morning doing this).
Then of course, there are the daily trips to and from the Post Office to ensure the speediest despatch of items, which, while close by is still a time consuming task - I make a small allowance on each item to cover that time and fuel cost.
As a result of this approach I am able to keep the individual item price down to a reasonable level and distribute these expense elements fairly.
Discounting
I price my items at the lowest I can to start with, unless I am having a 'special' in which case they may start even lower than normal. This, with my approach on postage and packing, means that I do not have a great deal of leeway to discount on multiple items. However, in these cases, I do endeavour to assess the overall sale to see if any discounting is possible.
Recently, I have been experimenting with the options ebay has for offering postage discounts to see if that will help address this point more efficiently. This seems to be satisfactory for internal sales to the UK but not so effective for sales abroad.
Payments
I prefer you to use paypal as it provides us both with security and various guarantees
If you pay by any means other than paypal, I cannot be responsible if the payment is lost in the post.
If you pay by cheque or postal order, I have to charge another 32p for postage to my bank / time at the post office, respectively
If you pay by cheque I will not despatch the item until the cheque has been in my account for five working days
Unpaid Items
As a result of the number of people who have bid and then not paid for items, I feel it is necessary to explain my stance on this situation as well.
Ebay charges me for listing and selling items. They will only refund these charges upto 45 days after auction or sale completion.
I will normally send a chase up after 7 days
After a further 7 days I will send a final chase up
7 days after that I will issue an ebay non payment dispute - if the buyer does not respond to that, ebay will give them a non payment strike.
Problems and their resolution
I will try as hard as I can to resolve any reasonable problems or concerns. However there are some basic elements that I cannot do anything about, as follows:
Payments lost in the post (see above)
Shipped items lost in the post (unless you have paid for them to be sent recorded delivery / courier)
Items damaged in the post unless you have paid to have them insured
If something is faulty, I will try and replace it, if I have / can find a suitable replacement. If not, then I will refund your money once I have received the item back. I have had instances where I have refunded the money and the goods have not been returned.
If we agree to a refund or if you decide not to proceed with a purchase, I will send an ebay dispute to you, to enable that transaction to be made null and void. This dispute will not affect your or my ratings but is a way of ensuring a proper record of the closure is kept and avoids any potential misunderstandings at a later date. Once you agree the closure dispute, all obligations are ended.
I hope that this policy will enable you to have a clear and pleasant experience when bidding at my auctions or buying from my shop and give you the peace of mind to return again.
Thank you for your time in reading this, have fun, live long and prosper! Russell
Contact Us Please use eBay messages as this is usually the quickest way for me to be aware of any questions or concerns.
I will endeavour to reply to your message within 24 hours but occassionally, due to the volume of questions received each day and other commitments, this may not be possible. If that happens to you, I apologise in advance and please do bear with me.
I receive a lot of questions about DVD and CD contents - if they are available I normally include them in the listing detail - so please do double check.
I also receive a lot of questions about international postage, again , these are normally included in the listing details - although you may have to select your country or 'show all' to see the charges. There have been some problems with eBay in the past so some charges have been 'lost' by the system - if you find that is the case, please let me know and I will be happy to help / correct the listing.
Normal emails to the account do get addressed but usually less regularly due to the volume of enquiries I receive each day.
Thank you for reading this and I hope you have an enjoyable experience using my shop
Payments
I prefer you to use paypal as it provides us both with security and various guarantees
If you pay by any means other than paypal, please note that I cannot accept responsibility if the payment is lost in the post.
Under normal circumstances I do not accept cash but in exceptional cases, I am prepared to accept cash in the following situations;
personal collection - made with an appointment in advance only
international and UK sales sent recorded delivery and well hidden inside the package. Again, I cannot be held responsible if it is lost in the post
Under normal circumstances I do not accept any other money transfer systems but in exceptional circumstances, subject to all the required detail being supplied and fees paid by the buyer, I will consider requests on a one to one basis. This is likely to involve a delay of upto a week as I have to make the appropriate arrangements to be able to complete the transaction.
I do not accept international payments direct in to my bank account as my bank charges me a large fixed fee for any such transactions.
I do not accept direct payment by credit card but you can use most (if not all) credit cards via paypal.
