RECORD GRADING

Record pictured is actual record.  Record albums are graded on visual inspection only.

Sealed (S) Still sealed in original shrinkwrap. Unopened and unplayed. Near Mint (NM) A nearly perfect record.  The record shows no obvious sign of wear.   Near Mint Minus(NM-) A very clean, lightly played record.  The record shows very minor signs of use.  A light scuff or smudge may be present, with no visible scratches.  Very Good (VG+)  A VG+ record is very close to NM-, except for a minor flaw or two.   Shows some minor signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it.  Record surfaces might show minor signs of wear such as slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect the play.  The label may have some very light ring wear or discoloration, but is should be barely noticeable. The center hole is not misshapen by repeated play.  Very Good (VG) Shows some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect the play. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.  VG may have several flaws, but nothing that would significantly impact the overall playability of the record.  The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but is should be barely noticeable. The center hole is not misshapen by repeated play. Good (G) Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. Fair (F) May have significant surface scratches and visible groove wear. A jacket or sleeve has seem splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine.  Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.  Poor (P) The record is cracked, badly warped, and won't play through without skipping or repeating.   

 

  COVER GRADING

Sealed (S) Still sealed in original manufacture shrinkwrap.   Near Mint (NM) The cover has no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling.  Near Mint (NM-) The cover has no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling.  Very Good (VG+) A VG+ cover will show some minor wear in corner and perhaps some very light ring-wear.   Typically, a VG++ cover will appear NM with just a minor flaw or two. Very Good (VG) A VG covers will have some slight wear or a slight seam-split.    Good (G) A Good cover is close to VG with slightly more edgewear and/or signs of prior use. Fair (F)  A jacket or sleeve has seem splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine.  Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.  Poor (P) The cover is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and/or writing.
