1979 UK EMI RECORDS (EMCP 3223) FIRST ISSUE *FACTORY SAMPLE* PICTURE DISC

This is the first release of the picture disc edition, later reissued in the same cover and with the same catalogue number.
This picture disc edition is housed in a clear plastic inner sleeve (with characteristic blue strip on the top of the right hand side) within a full colour outer sleeve (photographed by Jay Myrdal).
It sports a sticker declaring that it's a picture disc. The cover is a thick card and is laminated (the reissued picture disc's cover is thinner card and is not laminated). The cover has the picture disc catalogue number printed on it (adding a 'P' to the black vinyl counterpart's EMC 3223 cat number).
This first edition has a circular sticker stating that it is a picture disc (usually in the top left hand corner). The second pressing (apparently aimed at the US market, where the first pressing had proven popular) has an oval sticker (usually top centre). The second disc also states "manufactured in the UK by EMI records Ltd." as part of the copyright notice printed on the disc. This first edition does NOT have this wording

Hard to tell if it's ever been played but it doesn't look like it - the surfaces are unmarked and my play-check found nothing but a little low-level surface on the run-ins/track divisions and the (very) occasional light tick - as good as it gets for a picture disc - with the deep, rich and gorgeous sound of the original black vinyl pressing
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT+
Beautiful glass-like glossy sheen to both surfaces - some small creases to the extremities and laminate rub back bottom edge - nothing really - the FACTORY SAMPLE sticker shows no signs of attempted removal
INNER SLEEVE: NEAR MINT
Perfect apart from natural creasing - no seam splits
