THE BIG COME UP
The Big Come Up is the 2002 debut album from The Black Keys, the minimalist two-man blues/rock outfit out of Akron, Ohio which features Dan Auerbach's genuinely fine, powerful blues vocals and busy reverb soaked guitar riffing and Patrick Carney's earthy John Bonham-influenced drumming. A cool and raunchy electric blues record, the vigor and imagination displayed here is heads and tails fresher than any standard bar band blues-rockers with slicker execution and a penchant for blues clichés and this is only their first record! Limited edition 180g vinyl.
THICKFREAKNESS
The Black Keys second album, Thickfreakness, released in 2003, was their debut release for the Fat Possum record label. Songs such as “Set You Free” won the pair some mainstream success as being featured in the soundtrack of the 2003 film School of Rock. Most of the album was recorded in 14 hours in Patrick Carney's basement on an early 1980s Tascam 388 8-track recorder. The liner notes claim this is Carney's “patented recording technique called 'medium fidelity'”. The result is an older sounding sound. LP pressed on180g vinyl and includes FREE high quality MP3 Album Download.
RUBBER FACTORY
The Black Keys third studio album was produced by drummer Patrick Carney and was released in September 2004. The album was recorded in the group's hometown of Akron, Ohio in a dilapidated factory previously used by General Tire to manufacture rubber tires. The band rented the entire second floor of the building for $500 per month, dubbing their workspace “Sentient Sound.” General Tire closed the factory in 1982, though space in the building was still being leased out at the time of recording. Of the factory, Carney said it was “not really ideal in any way. It's too far away. It's on the second story. It's hot as hell. You can't open the windows.” LP pressed on180g vinyl and include FREE high quality MP3 Album Download.
MAGIC POTION
The Black Keys' fourth album (and debut for Nonesuch), is a spectacularly stripped-down set of sneakily melodic blues-besotted rock concocted in the Akron, Ohio basement studio of drummer Patrick Carney. Guitarist-singer Dan Auerbach is possessed of a compelling, hurt-beyond-his-years voice and an approach to lead guitar that is both wildly expressive and utterly succinct. As Rolling Stone put it in a review of this 2006 release: “Pure blues rock of this caliber is really timeless.” LP pressed on180g vinyl.
ATTACK & RELEASE
The Black Keys’ fifth full-length LP (2nd for Nonesuch), is the result of one of the most audacious and eagerly awaited collaborations in alternative rock history. Initially planned as collaboration between the Black Keys and Ike Turner, the duo chose mega-eclectic sonic mastermind Danger Mouse for the project when Turner died in late 2007. As more of a creative co-conspirator than traditional figure behind the boards, Danger Mouse doesn't radically alter the duo's sound so much as coax out more of its inherent soulfulness, groove and bittersweet emotion. Includes bonus CD of the entire album.
BROTHERS
On Brothers, The Black Keys’ Grammy-winning gold-certified 3rd studio album for Nonesuch, the duo spent ten days at the legendary Muscle Shoals studio in Alabama where they produced an intensely focused, deeply soulful set that includes a cover of Jerry Butler's “Never Gonna Give You Up.” The tunes offer a surprising amount of lyrical candor and more than a little dark humor; the grooves alternate between ballsy swagger and bluesy rumination. This double album set also includes a bonus full size poster and a CD of entire recording.
EL CAMINO
With the hard-rocking El Camino, The Black Keys' conjure up an exhilarating, stadium-sized sound in collaboration with producer and friend Danger Mouse. El Camino boasts a no-nonsense brilliance: The pace is fast, the mood is upbeat, the choruses unfailingly addictive — made for shouting along, preferably in a large, sweaty crowd. El Camino features one stand-out track after another, such as first single “Lonely Boy,” “Gold on the Ceiling,” and the surprising, acoustic-guitar-driven, tempo-shifting “Little Black Submarines.” Packaged in old style gatefold LP jacket, also includes a 22" x 33" fold-out poster and a CD of the album.
TURN BLUE
The Black Keys’ new album, Turn Blue, was produced by Danger Mouse, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney and features 11 new tracks including the first single, “Fever.” This is the eighth full-length album from the duo and follows 2011’s critically and commercially acclaimed, Grammy-winning El Camino, which is now certified RIAA Platinum. Of the new album - which was announced via a cryptic Tweet from former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and an accompanying David Lynchian video - the band says Turn Blue could refer to: suffocation, sadness, numbness from extreme cold and a Cleveland late night TV host from the 1960's named Ghoulardi. Includes bonus full-size poster and a CD of the album.
CHULAHOMA: THE SONGS OF JUNIOR KIMBROUGH
Chulahoma: The Songs of Junior Kimbrough, is the second EP by The Black Keys. Essentially a tribute album, it is a collection of the band's cover versions of songs by Fat Possum Records bluesman Junior Kimbrough, who died in 1998. The title is a reference to Chulahoma, Mississippi, location of “Junior's Place,” a juke joint bought by Kimbrough around 1992 and operated after his death by his sons until it burned down on April 6, 2000. Includes FREE high quality MP3 Album Download
