THE ANGELS
A Halo To You (1964)

The Angels, need no re-introduction to you. Ever since they were first bowled over by that unforgettab song "My Boyfriend's Back," guys and girls from Bastrop, Louisiana to Boston, Massachusetts have been snatching up The Angels' recordings with a zest and fervor usually reserved for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

In addition to the already proven Smash biggies presented in the album, "HA-LO TO YOU FROM THE ANGELS" includes a host of hot exciting material that will hug hearts and drive feet dance-wild.

Catch the current charter, "Wow, Wow, Wee (He's The Boy For Me)" as it's crooned with the candor that the title implies. Because the whole world has been bitten by The Beatles, it was inevitable that the girls would get the bug, too. "I Want To Hold Your Hand," (the boy's now monstrous hit) wraps up three minutes of roaring rock. This twister, told here by The Angels with such togetherness, makes one believe that their very heartbeats are synchronized.

The lively love-toned lyrics of Jiggs, Barbara and Peggy lifting their voices in allegiance to "Little Beatle Boys" rates an A+ that inspires absolute audience attention.

Frightfully good is the first vocal/teen version of the current Al Hirt instrumental hit, "Java." The Angels (as usual) add a pinch of pepper to an already potent platter-and "Java" really jumps.

The cool, careless way in which they chant the almost afro beat of "Louie, Louie," the artistry employed in "I Adore Him" are just additional indications of already acknowledged facts. THE ANGELS are not only heavenly bodies, but are three beautiful girls with talent and brainpower that they put to practical use. [ original liner notes by Bobbe Kadison]
