It's a classic cover, a groundbreaking album and still has the power to astonish 50+ years on.

This well loved, well used copy of the Jimi Hendrix Experience's debut album is a genuine UK 1st press and a prized item for any rock music collector.

Yes, the sleeve has seam splits and has been enthusiastically illustrated on the matt back cover (though actually the song listing is handy!), but the laminated front cover is pretty good bar some inevitable creasing.

The good news is that the vinyl plays through powerfully with no skips or sticks, thanks to the forgiving deep groove Track pressing, despite a number of hairlines and marks. There is some surface noise at the beginning of each side and sometimes in quieter passages but it really doesn't detract from the music.

There is a pressing flaw that has left a little dot of vinyl towards the end of 3rd Stone from the Sun, and this causes some loud clicks over the last minute or so of the track.

The labels are in decent shape with evidence of spindle wear but no significant damage. Poly lined plain white inner sleeve that has a repair to one edge is supplied. Collectable!

If I had to put a grading on it I'd say the vinyl is Very Good for the most part, and the sleeve Fair to Good, because of the damage. But finding a genuine UK 1st issue in any condition is tough these days, so I'd recommend this as a still listenable and enjoyable copy - and you could frame the cover as piece of classic 60s artwork!
