Complete & original heavyweight vinyl 1st UK pressing of ‘The Beatles - Please Please Me’ from the 22nd March 1963 on the short-lived black & gold Parlophone labels, briefly used before the classic black & yellow labels were issued a couple of months later.
The 1st pressing can be identified by the four tracks - ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ & ‘Misery’ on side one, and ‘Do You Want To Know A Secret’ & ‘There’s A Place’ on side two - incorrectly credited to ‘Dick James Mus. Co.’ due to an earlier mistake by George Martin, before being corrected to“Northern Songs Ltd” for the 2nd press shortly after.
The 1st press ‘Gold’ sleeve printed by Earnest J. Day Co. Ltd, can be identified by the"Photo: Angus McBean" credit alignment on the front bottom right corner, which begins where the "s" of songs end. On the second issue sleeves, the credit was moved further to the left aligning with the “g”.
This comes with the original NEMS (North End Music Stores) bag issued from Brian Epstein's music outlet in Liverpool.

Lovely condition. Nice and clean with a deep-sheen still, only a few light marks visible in natural light on each side, nothing feelable. Under direct spotlight, short sleeve removal hairlines can be seen. The disc sits completely flat on the turntable and has no warping. Visually it stands above the majority of 1st presses available today, VERY GOOD PLUS! The playback is as good as the visual and that big, punchy 1st-press sound hits you straight away. Lead-ins to each side are nice and quiet with only light surface noise audible. Each track plays without issue, there are no pops, repeat clicks, and clearly no skips/sticks with this grade, nice and quiet between tracks, VERY GOOD PLUS! The cover has a glossy, clean front with light signs of handling, light crease-lines, no ring-wear. The spine is sharp, clean and fully-readable without wear. The back is nice and clean also, light signs of handling only, no stains, tears or defacing, VERY GOOD PLUS! Still housed in its original tracing-paper Emitex inner sleeve which is clean without splits, EXCELLENT! The original N.E.M.S. bag has creases and a small tear at the corner. This comprises a solid listening & collectors condition complete 1st UK mono press of The Beatles debut album direct from its original release date of March 22nd 1963 and complete with original and rare collectors item Brian Epstein NEMS store bag. Very nice!
