Joe Harriott Quintet - Blue Harriott (1959, Columbia): Senor Blues, Still Goofin', Count twelve, Jumpin' with Joe.
Rarely seen 1959 modern jazz EP on Columbia from the revered Joe Harriott Quintet. Copies are hard to come by – particularly in this kind of condition. Harriott's alto sax is backed by Harry South (piano), Hank Shaw (trumpet), Coleridge Goode (bass) and Bob Orr (drums).
The fully laminated flipback sleeve has no writing, tears or major damage – just a little wear to the corners, a touch of ringwear to the back cover and minor laminate lift to the opening edge.
The vinyl plays beautifully and the sound is bright and clear. There is a faint touch of surface noise in the quietest moments, and the occasional soft pop. The odd surface line but nothing more and the vinyl is glossy and clean.
The green and silver Columbia labels are pristine.
You'll really struggle to find a better copy.
