Absolute classic TEXAS 60s PSYCH LP from this incredible band!
AMAZING TEXAS PSYCH ON PAR WITH LABELMATES AND CLOSE FRIENDS ROKY ERICKSON AND THE 13TH FLOOR ELEVATORS!!! THEIR ONLY LP.
180 gram pure Virgin Vinyl. Originally released by International Artists (AI-4) in 1968. Custom POWER PLANT labels, thick heavy audiophile grade pressing of 1968 album, pressed in Italy.
One of the most powerful International Artists albums, from 1968. Some will go so far as to say that this album defines the Texas third-mind psych revolution, even more so than 13th Floor Elevators’ Easter Everywhere (I find it too close to call myself, both are masterpieces of Primal, Hallucinogenic Texas Psych). The combinations of Eastern-tinged Psychedelic philosophical excursions, swirling hallucinogenics and pure Texan Garage dirt produced a legitimate monster of its time.

Highly collectible Texas acid-injected fuzzrock gem. The Golden Dawn issued only this one, outstanding, Psych/Garage album, filled to the brim with inspired psychedelic wanderings and enigmatic lyrics... from the 60s Texas garage psych scene.
One of the earliest Texas psychedelic '60s groups on the legendary International Artists label, home of the 13th Floor Elevators. In fact, the Golden Dawn sounded a lot like the Elevators, though their lead singer / main songwriter, George Kinney, had a sometimes gentler, more fragile vocal delivery than Roky Erickson.
The similarity wasn't terribly surprising given that Kinney had grown up with Erickson, and had earlier played with Roky in a pre-Elevators group, The Fugitives. Kinney also played in The Chelsea, which for a time included 13th Floor Elevators' Powell St. John.
The Golden Dawn became a part of the International Artists roster with the Elevators' help. They released only this one album, in 1968, “POWER PLANT”, that (again, like the Elevators) featured a bold psychedelic cover, inscrutable liner notes, and sometimes inscrutable lyrics. George Kinney's role in the Roky Erickson saga wasn't finished when the Golden Dawn broke up; he financed the publication of Erickson's book, “Openers”, which helped get Roky out of Rusk State Mental Hospital.

The original 1968 International Artists issue of Golden Dawn's `Power Plant' is one of the most hotly sought albums within the world of Psych Rock collectors
...commanding several hundred dollars when in top condition. Alongside the 13th Floor Elevators, Lost & Found, The Red Krayola and Bubble Puppy, Golden Dawn was one of Texas' major psychedelic exports.
