Are We The Red Inspectors? Are We?

Release Date: 16.01.2012
Genre: Lounge-Core / Funk
The Red Inspectors are Miles Chapman, Andy Lewis, Pete Twyman and Alex Richards.
Pete, Miles and Andy have been playing together on and off for over 20 years. First with Britpop darlings Pimlico in the mid-90s, who also found fans within the new-mod scene (and re-formed a couple of years ago).
Andy Lewis first came to the attention of the wider world as Blur’s tour DJ and the man behind the Britpop explosion (his influential club night at The Laurel Tree in Camden boasted a who’s who of the bands that went on to make up the movement). Alex Richards used to play keyboard for Mohair and The Bluetones. Andy Lewis is also on bass duties in Paul Weller’s band, Pete Twyman has played with the Modfather, too.
But back to The Red Inspectors, and between them they play drums, percussion, bass, guitar, a variety of keyboards, and, occasionally, sing. The album was born out of a love and admiration for the music of the early Acid Jazz bands - Corduroy, The James Taylor Quartet, Mother Earth, The Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai.
Are We The Red Inspectors? Are We? was written and recorded earlier in 2011 and it set for release in January 2012. It is a mixture of cheeky 21st century Hammond organ, detective TV-theme inspired, easy-listening, porn soundtrack, cocktail lounge, bossa-nova, electro funk pop tunes.
Having found its natural home on the label that had such an influence on their early musical development, when better to release it than in Acid Jazz's 25th glorious year!
