Rubber Soul EMI of Great Brtain - import LP ! I am the original owner !

DESCRIPTION:

DETAILS:  Please ignore odd dark "square" reflection in pictures of the LP itself.  And the reflection of the photographer too !  There was something in the room reflecting off the record surface.  Not a flaw.

Lightly played condition.

Original owner !  I bought these Beatles LPs new in the late 1970s and early 1980s.  Near all bought from either Crazy Larry’s or Believe In Music in Grand Rapids, MI.  The USA editions I played a fair amount, the imports were hardly played at all.  I used the imports to make cassette tapes (Probably still have the Maxell XLII-s tapes around somewhere !) and seldom ever put the records on the turntable after that.

I was always very careful with my LP records.  I kept nearly all my records in loose fitting protective plastic sleeves.  I kept many of the LP records themselves in special anti-scratch inner sleeves.  All the Beatles imports were kept in such inner sleeves.  Each time the record was played it was cleaned with a Discwasher brush and fluid.  Usually the needle was cleaned too (very carefully !) with a stylus cleaning brush.  The entire preparation and playing of an LP record was an event !!

I could not stand ticks and pops and would replace records that had such noises.  Though I did tolerate one Supertramp LP that had a pop in one channel on a particular revolution, then another pop in the OTHER channel on the next revolution.  And that was about all I could tolerate !

These records have been stored for years in a climate controlled space (NOT in a basement).  They were kept in boxes specially sized to hold LP records.  The records were kept standing on edge.  And there thy have sat for over 25 years.  Unplayed since about 1986 or so, when the evil CD invaded the stereo cabinet.

In looking at the vinyl today, I can say most look very good.  Some have a slight sign of a “scuff” mark or two.  The marks are not scratches !  I do not know if they are from the LP manufacturing process or from putting the records in the sleeves.  Some have such marks, some do not.  I will try to note which ones do.  I can say I never heard any sound problem from these scuffs.  They are actually a bit difficult to see, but sometimes the photograph can catch them.  Then they look worse than they seem to the naked eye !

How has the vinyl held up over the years?  I do not know.  I have no turntable any longer to play them on and these LPs have not been played in over 25 years.  What I do know s they were treated with great care during their active playing life !
