THE SOUL BENDERS - "7 & 7 Is / Petals"
Unplayed Original 1968 Private Michigan issue 45 in Pic Sleeve
Visually Graded Condition of disc:  NM-

I have decided to part with another of my unplayed copies of our rare Michigan single. I was leader of The Soul Benders - doing all vocals and keyboards.
My dear mother, one of our biggest fans back then, tucked away a handful of copies of her son's records, hidden in a closet for decades. I lost her to cancer in 1988 and when I moved back home, I found an envelope way up on a top shelf of that closet - that had 'Aris' treasures' written on it in her handwriting.
Inside, were near mint copies of all of my efforts that had been put on vinyl.
She was smart. I was just a stupid long-haired teenager back then and I had never even considered putting any of these away for the future.
Now I'm up in years - with no family left to leave these to, so it's time to pass them on while I'm still here to those who still want one.

The record has lost a bit of it's gloss over the years, with some paper scuffs and light marks but I will guarantee that both sides will play mint. These were pressed at American record pressing plant in Owosso, Michigan in January of 1968, where nearly every Motown single you own was pressed. Their pressings were not always the greatest, but they 'were' serviceable and often quite good. And, at the time, it was the only pressing plant here in Michigan.
I was pleased with our pressings from American.
Sadly, the plant burned down to the ground a few years later - taking all of our master plates with it.

Both sides were recorded in December of 1967 at Great Lakes studios in Sparta Michigan where all the infamous Fenton records were recorded.
The same engineers, the same 2-track recording gear, the same 'fantastic natural reverb' of that fine movie theater - everything the same as heard on all Fenton discs. This single was also included on the "Scream Loud - The Fenton Story" boxset out of Germany for those same reasons as well. I just opted to put this out on our 'own' label "Phantasm" to avoid anyone, besides our band members, from getting a cut of the profits (which, indeed, ended up being minimal).

The pic sleeve shown is MINT.
The winner will also get an original Soul Benders business card from 1968 (also mint) shown in picture 4.
Only 1000 copies of this 45 were pressed.
You simply won't find a copy in better condition than this, for sale, anywhere else.
And when they are gone...they are really gone.

NO 'BEST OFFERS' ACCEPTED

Continuing with the liquidation of my record collection passing them on to people who can more appreciate them.
These are items from my collection of nearly 40,000 promo singles, LP's & CD's from the 60's thru the 90's that I was
fortunate to acquire from doing 37 years of on-air Rock Radio.

All of my records are guaranteed original pressings unless otherwise noted.

These records were sorted, stored, moved a few times, and then stored again for decades. Some carefully,
others were not. All of my gradings are visual, and more often than not, quite generous.
Just check my feedback. You can bid and buy with confidence.

MY GRADING SCALE

(very similar to the Goldmine standard)

NM (Near Mint): Record will show no serious scuffs or scratches in the playing area. May have minor scuffs on edges from decades of storage, or a small scuff, scratch or paper scuff on playing area.
It's near mint, not mint (which would be 'sealed' to me). There should be no audible distractions.
NM- (Near Mint minus): A scuff or two or light scratch or two on either or both sides that may be heard.
VG+: Scuffs & some minor scratches in the playing area. Some will most likely be heard.
VG: Many scuffs or scratches that will be heard but record should still play fine.

Record grading is subjective. I offer a 100% money back guarantee on  everything I sell.
