This is a very interesting record of the Japanese contemporary composer Takashi Yoshimatsu who is as famous as Tohru Takemitsu.
The Japanese instruments played on this Lp are named Shakuhachi (bamboo flute), Sangen (samisen) and drums.
Sangen is not the same as Koto but is the same as Samisen.

The titles of the music are a combination of poetic words and old Japanese language which is seldom used now. The music has a strong meditative character.

The music is very well recorded. The sound of the bamboo flute is very attractive because of its complex and full character. The music is at times meditative and at times dramatic (if that is the appropriate word).
