The Serpent Power is a convincingy poetic and introvert psych/folk record with gorgeous male/female vocals. David Meltzer is a solid lead guitarist, the rhythm guitar sounds ever so subtle and there is plenty of room for the organist too. Side A captures a priceless set of winners whilst the lenghty B4 feels seemingly endless indeed. Nevertheless their sole album - which apparently saw the light of day in the famous Summer of Love - remains an important example of 1967 West Coast psych.
