The band, originally a surf-rock group called the Crossfires, was formed in 1965 in , by high school friends , , , , , and . With the help of  and   and club owner Reb Foster (b. James Dennis Bruton 1936), the Crossfires signed to the newly formed  and adhering to the prevailing musical trend, re-branded themselves as a folk rock group under the name the Tyrtles, the intentional misspelling inspired by  and . However, the trendy spelling did not survive long.

The artist credit for the 1970 single "Teardrops" reads "The Dedications". This single was issued without the band's knowledge or consent, and "The Dedications" concept was concocted by White Whale. All singles issued after this one were released without the band's input or approval, but all are credited to The Turtles, regardless.

Packaging :

I take great care during packaging and do each one personally. I use hand cut cardboard, which I get from a trucking company. (It's so thick that you will save it and use it again.) Each piece is 1/4 inch thick and together they are very stronge. I always remove the record from the picture sleeve and add clear plastic and record sleeve. All packages are marked in red and white "Handle With Care Fragile" sticker on one side.

Postage :

You have to pay for the postage.   This record will weigh 6 ounces when ready to ship. US winners can figure out your own postage costs for US First Class with tracking. I will send it through USPS and you will get an email with the tracking number. Overseas winners will get it sent by First Class Mail International. (Buyers from Brazil, France will assume all risks for shipping to your country.) I will send your record as soon as you pay. (same day if before 2 PM and next day if after 2 PM, Monday thru Saturday) I will combine postage if you win more than one record. Please wait for my invoice for all of your winnings in one package

Shipping & PaymentInternational Buyers: We won't under-value merchandise or mark the item as a gift on customs forms. Doing that is against U.S. and international laws.

M- (Mint Minus) Disc appears to be virtually flawless, and should play as such...

EXCELLENT  (EX) May have fine paper scuff other than look flawless 

VG++ Denotes tiny VISUAL flaw or paper scuff(s) that is cosmetic, or minor markings that cannot be heard

G "Good" Disc has lots of wear, and serious visual abrasions. It should play through without skipping (unless otherwise noted). Condition is generally rough, but is good enough to serve as a "filler" copy until something better comes along. Only the rarest of records will be listed in this condition.

All other defects, such as cut-out holes (CO), stickers and/or writing on the label (SOL / WOL) and warping (wrp) are noted as listed here.
