A trebly 12-string Rickenbacker dances upward and is then quickly followed by a lower sliding bass line while a reverberated tambourine swirls beneath both spaces, connecting all sounds together. As the drums click and snap into place the heavenly harmonies of The Byrds settle into the Don't Worry Baby sounding groove of Mr. Tambourine Man. And though the album of the same name will have its share of songs that are equally as strong as its title track, none embody that surprisingly relaxed and effective 'take your breath away' moment that starts off the first ten seconds of this album. Whether it was ten seconds that became the birth of 'folk rock' or if it was just a fresh and new arrangement augmenting an already great song, it was a fantastic opening to an album as well as an introduction to a band.
