Group formed in 1986 by , , Dean Felber, and . As of July 2010, the band had charted 16 singles on various  singles charts and recorded five studio albums. Their 1994 debut album, , was the , and was  16 times. The group was popular in , having three number-one singles in the country. They have sold over 21 million albums in the United States.

History Early years

Hootie & the Blowfish formed in 1986. The quartet met when they were freshmen at the  in . Bryan heard Rucker singing in the showers of the dorm they shared and was impressed by his vocal ability. They began playing  tunes as The Wolf Brothers; eventually they collaborated with Felber, a former high school bandmate of Bryan's, and Jim "Soni" Sonefeld as Hootie & the Blowfish. The name is a conjunction of the nicknames of two of their college friends. Brantley Smith was the original drummer for the band. He left the group to pursue music ministry, but he has made scattered guest appearances with the band (he played cello on their  performance in 1996, and played drums at Gruene Hall in , on June 27, 2008).

The band independently released two cassette demo  in 1991 and 1992. In 1993, they pressed 50,000 copies of a self-released EP, . They were signed to  in August 1993, after being discovered by Atlantic  representative , a former music journalist and member of the art rock band . Sommer recalled that other record labels were uninterested in signing Hootie & The Blowfish because their sound was radically different from the  music that was popular at the time.

Packaging :

I take great care during packaging and do each one personally. I use hand cut cardboard, which I get from a trucking company. (It's so thick that you will save it and use it again.) Each piece is 1/4 inch thick and together they are very stronge. I always remove the record from the picture sleeve and add clear plastic and record sleeve. All packages are marked in red and white "Handle With Care Fragile" sticker on one side and "Do Not Bend" on other side.

Postage :

You have to pay for the postage.   This record will weigh 6 ounces when ready to ship. US winners can figure out your own postage costs for US First Class with tracking. I will send it through USPS and you will get an email with the tracking number. Overseas winners will get it sent by First Class Mail International. (Buyers from Brazil, France will assume all risks for shipping to your country.) I will send your record as soon as you pay. (same day if before 2 PM and next day if after 2 PM, Monday thru Saturday) I will combine postage if you win more than one record. Please wait for my invoice for all of your winnings in one package

VG++ Denotes tiny VISUAL flaw or paper scuff(s) that is cosmetic, or minor markings that cannot be heard

G "Good" Disc has lots of wear, and serious visual abrasions. It should play through without skipping (unless otherwise noted). Condition is generally rough, but is good enough to serve as a "filler" copy until something better comes along. Only the rarest of records will be listed in this condition.

All other defects, such as cut-out holes (CO), stickers and/or writing on the label (SOL / WOL) and warping (wrp) are noted as listed here.
