The Shangri-Las specialized in adolescent themes  such as alienation loneliness, abandonment and death

 Billy Joel performed on early demos

By 1964 the group was an established act

They performed with the Beatles

Toured with The Drifters, James Brown and The Zombies

Red Bird Records folded in 1967

By 1968, the girls decided to 'take a break,"

and The Shangri-Las just faded away
