Summary: This is not  Bob Marley’s reggae band from Kingston, Jamaica but a garage band  from Tacoma, Washington. The Wailers started playing and recording in the late fifties creating the distinctive northwest sound of early regional rock bands. It all started with their signature sax and piano driven initial original recording, Tall Cool One, released on one of  New York’s indies label Golden Crest in ‘59. Golden Crest re released Tall Cool One 5 years later and the instrumental rode the Billboard charts to become a hit all over again.

The Boys from Tacoma are best known worldwide among rock music fans as the Fabulous Wailers and pioneers of garage rock. The Sonics (The Witch, Psycho) also from Tacoma first recorded for the Wailers Etiquette label. The instrumental band The Ventures from Tacoma were heavily influenced by the sound of the Wailers. In fact the title track on this album Out of Our Tree was penned by the Wailers and appears on one of the volumes of the Nuggets Psychedelic original artifacts CD’s. Shortly after the release of Out of Our Tree the fabulous Wailers  performed two concerts for Bill Graham’s Fillmore auditorium with Quicksilver Messenger Service.

Professional photographer Jini Dellaccio took the cover photo in the Tacoma Stadium neighborhood at Wright Park close to most of the original Wailers and Little Bill and his Bluenotes high school.
