An extremely rare set of 3 Neil Young test pressings, together comprising the cancelled 1976 original version of  Young’s album Decade, including the unreleased 4:19 version of “Campaigner.”

Decade, Young’s first compilation album (which included new and previously unreleased tracks) was originally scheduled for release on October 26, 1976.  For unknown reasons, after test pressings were made Young changed his mind and postponed the release of the album a full year; it was ultimately released on October 28, 1977.
When the album eventually came out, Young had deleted a full verse from the previously unreleased “Campaigner”.
Disc three on this original versions features the original uncut 4:19 “Campaigner;” by the time the album was released a year later, the song had been edited down to 3:30, and the original four verses edited to only three verses.

Disc one has blank Reprise labels; something we've seen only once before, also on a Neil Young test pressing.  Disc two and three have blank labels.  Five of the six sides are Mint to Near Mint, side 5 has a light superficial mark, so we'll grade that NM--.  With an album cover for the released Decade (none were made for the original version.)
An exceedingly rare Neil Young collectible.

Matrix numbers for the three discs are as follows:

3RS - 1 - 2257 - JW2 #2 0
3RS - 2 - 2257 - JW1 #1 0
3RS - 3 - 2257 - WW1
3RS - 4 - 2257 - WW1 #2
3RS - 5 - 2257 - WW2
3RS - 6 - 2257 - WW2
We grade all records visually, cover first, then disc; using the abbreviations M / NM / EX / VG with + and -. We try to describe everything as accurately as possible, and spot check any vinyl flaw that looks like it might make a sound. We regularly receive praise for our grading, but as all grading is subjective, we are happy to give a full refund for anything you aren't happy with no questions asked.

Unlike some eBay sellers, we don't feel the need to hype records by including long reviews or albums, quoting lyrics, making up arcane variations. We just grade accurately, describe any flaw, and sell only high quality rare records in fine condition.
