PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Rare and MINT ... 50 years of age = immaculate!
Original 1968 first pressing with cool multi fold out round cover of the legendary psychedelic laced mod genius works of The Small Faces and their second album...
Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake was a successful concept album by the English band Small Faces. Released on the great UK MOD label "Immediate" on 24 May 1968... the LP became a number one hit in the UK Album Charts on 29 June where it remained for a total of six weeks.
Ogden’s'
first half consists of six tightly buzzing slices of the psychedelic r
‘n’ b that was now their stock in trade. Mainly penned by Marriott and
Lane the fare divides itself between punchy blue-eyed soul stompers like
''Afterglow (Of Your Love)'' and more chirpy psych knees ups like the
brilliant ''Lazy Sunday'' (inspired by Marriott’s feuds with his
neighbours).
The second side contains the story of Happiness Stan
and his quest to find the moon, interlinked by forgotten master of
gobbledegook, Stanley Unwin. Here the songs are considerably more
embellished and varied in texture; from the strange faux-folksy “Mad
John” to the more rocking “Rollin’ Over”. The latter featured a brass
section while the rest included strings, harps and all the usual
trappings expected of bands who wished to signal their serious musical
intent. But somehow at the heart of it all was the Small Faces’ muscular
approach that makes Ogden’s certainly the least fey of all English
psychedelic classics.
Story:
When Stan looks up in the sky and
sees only half the moon, he sets out on a quest to search for the
missing half. Along the way he saves a fly from starvation, and in
gratitude the insect tells him of someone who can answer his question
and also tell him the philosophy of life itself. With his magic power
Stan intones, "If all the flies were one fly, what a great enormous
fly-follolloper that would bold," and the fly grows to gigantic
proportions. Seated on the giant fly's back Stan takes a psychedelic
journey to the cave of Mad John the hermit, who explains that the moon's
disappearance is only temporary, and demonstrates by pointing out that
Stan has spent so long on his quest that the moon is now full again. He
then sings Stan a cheerful song about the meaningb of life.
