JUNE 1980 - FRANK ZAPPA AND THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION - { INCLUDES FRANK ZAPPA - RAY COLLINS - BUNK "SWEETPANTS" GARDNER - ARTIE TRIPP - ROY ESTRADA - JIMMY CARL BLACK - DON PRESTON - MOTORHEAD SHERWOOD - CAPTAIN BEEFHEART AND OTHERS } - RUSTIC PROTRUSION - { PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED TRACKS AND STUDIO ALTERNATES, 1963 THRU 1969 } - THIS IS A STILL SEALED ORIGINAL MUD SHARK BLUE VINYL VERSION LP OF WHICH THERE WERE ONLY 400 PRESSED ON BLUE VINYL IN 1980 AND I HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE THAT THIS ONE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST BLUE VINYL RECORDS PRESSED.THERE WERE 1500 UNITS PRESSED ON BLACK VINYL, 400 PRESSED ON BLUE VINYL AND 100 PRESSED ON RED VINYL. THE COLOR OF THE SLICK WAS USED TO MATCH THE COLOR ON THE VINYL INSIDE. BUT YES IT'S TRUE, THERE WAS SOME BLACK VINYL VERSIONS THAT CAME WITH A BLUE COVER SLICK AS STU RAN OUT OF THE BLACK SLICKS BEFORE HE COULD SHRINK WRAP ALL OF THE 1500 BLACK VINYL UNITS. SO HOW THEN DO YOU REV. A. WEST KNOW THAT THIS ONE IS ACTUALLY ON BLUE VINYL I'M SURE SOMEBODY IS SITTING THERE AT THIS VERY MOMENT SCRATCHING THEIR OVER SIZED RONDO HATTON BEMIS HEAD MUMBLING? WELL LARRY, IT'S BECAUSE THIS ALBUM COMES FROM THE COLLECTION OF WALTER "WALDO" QUADRATO. WALDO WAS THE GUY WHO WROTE THE INTRODUCTORY LINER NOTES IN THE BOOKLET OF THE FAMOUS 12 LP 20 YEARS OF FRANK ZAPPA BOX SET. HE LIVED IN WATERBURY WHEN STU WAS LIVING IN BRIDGEPORT AND HE'D OFTEN WAIT FOR STU TO DRIVE BACK FROM NYC TO GET BOXES OF RECORDS FROM STU. THE FOLLOWING YEAR IN 1981 WHEN THE BIG BUST HAPPENED WHEN 500 BOXES OF THE 12 LP SET WERE CONFISCATED AND MORE LPS WERE TAKEN FROM STU'S STORAGE LOCKER, WALDO AND STU WERE IN THE CAR TOGETHER HEADING DOWN TO NYC WHEN THEY GOT PULLED OVER. SOMEHOW IN THE CONFUSION WALDO SLIPPED AWAY AND STU WAS ASKED WHO WAS THAT GIRL WITH HIM? WELL THAT WAS WALDO. YOU CAN READ MORE ABOUT MUD SHARK RECORDS AND STU IN SCOTT PARKER'S BOOK "A BOX OF HISTORY AND THE MUD SHARK SAGA".- THE COVER IS STILL WRAPPED IN THE ORIGINAL SHRINK WHICH HAS STARTED TO TO SPLIT AND SEPARATE ON THE FRONT ALONG THE SPINE, TOP LEFT CORNER AND NEAR THE EDGE ON THE TOP FRONT. { PLACE PROTRUDING NASAL APPENDAGE IN FRONT OF PHOTOS 2, 3, 4 & 5 }. I'M TAKING ABOUT SHRINK SPLIT, NOT SPLITS IN THE CARDBOARD JACKET WHICH THERE ARE NONE - ALSO INCLUDED IS A DOUBLE SIDED PAPER WITH MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS RECORD AND CONTENTS AND OTHER RARE AND EXCITING FACTS THAN SOMEBODY WITH AN INQUIRING MIND WOULD EVER WANNA WRITTEN BY STU, WHO WOULDA' BEEN THE ONLY PERSON CAPABLE OF PROVIDING ALL OF THAT INFORMATION - THIS RECORD WAS ONE OF THE FIRST FEW PRESSED AS I THINK THAT WALDO ORIGINALLY HAD #2 OF THE FAMOUS SILVER EDITION 12 LP BOX SETS HE GOT FROM STU. ALSO INCLUDED IS A HIGH QUALITY OUTER SLEEVE SHOULD ANYBODY DECIDE TO OPEN AND PLAY IT. NICE TO HAVE FOR STORAGE EVEN IF YOU PLAN ON TREATING THIS AS AN INVESTMENT AND LEAVING IT SEALED. I CAN'T SEE ANY OTHER RECORD COMPANY DESTINED TO REPLACE MUD SHARK RECORDS IN YOUR ZAPPA MYTHOLOGY, SO YEZ JUST MIGHT WANNA BUY IT NOW.- MUD SHARK - MZ 3601-D - OK LARRY?
STUDEBAKER HOCH IS NO LONGER WITH US, HE WENT ON YOU KNOW. HE WAS LAST SEEN IN A PHONE BOOTH BEING LIFTED UP BY HIS FLIES OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND INTO THE SKY. THERE WON'T BE ANYBODY TO REPLACE HIM IN YOUR ZAPPA MYTHOLOGY FOR SURE. NICE KNOWING YOU STU.
