Up for auction is a beautiful original pressing of the Led Zeppelin album Houses Of The Holy, originally released in the U.S. on Atlantic Records (SD 7255) in 1973:
-Guaranteed original first pressing, NOT recent reissue -Original 1841 Broadway New York, NY address on labels
-STERLING mastering stamp in deadwax on BOTH sides
-RL Robert Ludwig mastering mark in deadwax on BOTH sides
-Original gatefold cover with NOT titles on spine
-Rare matte textured white inner sleeve w/ lyrics
-No UPC/bar code on cover -NOT a record club pressing
-Vinyl comes in poly audiophile protective inner sleeve
Note: Original pressings of Houses Of The Holy have the RL Robert Ludwig mastering stamps on both sides in the deadwax, and are sought after by collectors and audiophiles for their superior audio quality. Be aware that some copies have the RL mark only on one side--this copy has both.
Also, please be aware that because this album was issued with a rough textured inner sleeve, almost all copies that you'll find have some light superficial paper scuffing from taking the vinyl out of the sleeve--it's almost impossible to avoid--but it does not affect the audio quality.
Condition: Cover is beautiful with no significant signs of age or wear. No ring wear, no seam splits or wear--almost all copies you'll find have ring wear. Spine is tight, gatefold has never been opened all the way flat. Corners are sharp, with only a tiny hint of rub on a couple (see photos). Almost looks like it was just taken out of the original shrink wrap. Hard to upgrade. Grade: Near Mint (NM)
Vinyl also looks great, still retains its original glossy shine. Both sides look clean, no obvious scratches or scuffs. Under a strong light, some faint hairlines and superficial signs or shadow scuffs from having been taken out of heavy paper inner sleeve a couple times show up--very common for this record. No marks around spindle holes--very clean. It even still has the original vinyl shavings around the spindle hole from when it was pressed (see photo).
Sound quality is excellent--not audiophile perfect, but none of these original pressings were. Looks like this record has maybe been played only a couple times previously but handled with care. Grade: Excellent (EX)
Combined Shipping:
Yes, I offer significant combined shipping discounts. Just ask!
International Shipping:
Because
of unreliable postal services, buyers in France and Italy must pay for
Expedited international shipping, which includes tracking and
insurance. I've had too many records lost or damaged shipping to these
countries. Also, I do not ship to Central or South America, or China.
How I Pack Your Records:
I
remove the records with inner sleeves from the covers prior to
packing. I sandwich the record between two pieces of cardboard for
padding and protection. I also reinforce the corners of the shipping
box to protect the corners of the record jacket from damage.
