Private pressing #XGPB-205/6. 1964 transcription disc from the Office of Civil Defense titled "Stars for Defense." Hosted by Jay Jackson with Ray Bloch and his Orchestra. Side 1, Program 393 stars Leslie Uggams. She sings 3 songs (The Birth of the Blues, Once Upon a Time, and I Believe) and Ray Bloch and his Orchestra play one song (Whistler and his Dog). Side 2, Program 394 stars Eddy Arnold, same format as Side 1. Songs: Jealous Hearted Me, Old Black Cloud Over my Head, and Molly Darling. Topic is a course on personal & family survival. Each side is approximately 15 minutes long. Vinyl is in VG++ condition. Cover is a plain paper sleeve.
Jay Jackson (Nov.4th, 1918 to Aug. 16th, 2005) was an American radio and television quiz show host and announcer.
Ray Bloch (Aug. 3rd, 1902 to March 29th, 1982) was a European-American composer, songwriter, conductor, pianist, author, and arranger. He is best remembered as the arranger and orchestra conductor for The Ed Sullivan Show during its entire run from 1948 to 1971.
