SEALED! Full-length LP from Charles Mingus/Max Roach/Eric Dolphy/Roy Eldridge/Jo Jones titled "Newport Rebels" reissued by Candid (9022) in 1985. Italian repress of this classic jazz album that was originally released in 1961. Charles Mingus gathered a few like-minded jazz musicians for this alternative performance in protest to the highly commercialized Newport Jazz Festival. Along with the core musicians of Mingus, Roach, Dolphy, Eldridge and Jo Jones where contributions from Jimmy Knepper, Tommy Flanagan, Booker Little, Julian Priester, Walter Benton, John "Peck" Morrison, Abbey Lincoln, Benny Bailey and Kenny Dorham. Shrink wrap has tears at top and bottom edges. This is a SEALED/UNPLAYED copy!
