Description
THE ANIMALS
LOVE - DEBUT 1ST LP – SELF TITLED – EPONYMOUS
THIS WAS THE DEBUT ALBUM FROM 1964 BY THE ANIMALS WITH ERIC BURDON AND IT IS VERY HARD TO FIND TO FIND AS THE BAND WAS UNKNOWN AND SOLD IN SMALL QUANTITIES AS LPS WERE VERY EXPENSIVE AND HARD TO AFFORD FOR YOUNG PEOPLE.
THIS IS THE 1964 EARLIEST ORIGINAL UK 1ST PRESS WITH THE BLUE COLUMBIA LABELS. IT IS THE GENUINE ARTICLE AND IN MONO! THIS IS HOW YOU'D HAVE HEARD IT ON PIRATE RADIO BACK IN THE 60'S. NOT MANY PEOPLE HAD STEREO IN THOSE DAYS. IT DEFINITELY HAS A DIFFERENT SOUND AND IS MIXED AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY PLANNED TO BE.
MONO WAS THE MAIN FORMAT OF THE DAY AND SO THOSE MIXES WERE DONE AT SEPARATE SESSIONS FOR EACH TRACK. MONO WAS WHERE ALL THE WORK AND TIME WENT AND THE STEREO MIX WAS PRETTY MUCH COBBLED TOGETHER AS AN AFTERTHOUGHT.

The vinyl is visually in good plus condition only and has been played a lot. The value of this record is on its rarity rather than condition. Please see below a description of grades and note that this vinyl is over 56 years old that has been well played and will not transform into anything different to the condition stated.
The BLUE COLUMBIA labels are in very good plus condition.
The laminated Garrod and Lofthouse sleeve is in very good plus condition with a tear in the front, edge and corner wear. The trifold back sleeve is in excellent condition without graffitti and without "file under" on the top indicating that it is an early 1st Press.
The spine is complete with a dent and legible with corner wear.
DON’T MISS THE CHANCE OF OWNING A RARE PIECE OF ROCK HISTORY!
Photos are of the actual item.
PLEASE WAIT TO RECEIVE AN INVOICE IF THE BIDDING EXCEEDS £20 AS IT WILL NEED TO BE INSURED ACCORDINGLY .

Visually-graded vinyl: A visual grading will identify physical flaws (such as scratches) and can help determine whether a record has been cared-for properly. A visual grading will not identify noise or crackle caused by non-visible sources. Most of the records I sell are between thirty and sixty years old and so it is likely that there may be some background noise even if they look perfect.
Play-grading MONO records: Mono records and stereo records have different grooves. A stereo record produces a stereo sound via both lateral and vertical groove modulation whereas a mono record is not intended to produce any sound from vertical modulation. Playing a mono record with a stereo cartridge will create distortion because it is trying to pick-up the vertical (stereo) part of the signal, whereas this is not intended to be heard on a mono record and so is just noise. Using a pre-amp with a mono switch will eliminate the noise caused by vertical modulation leaving just the lateral groove signal which is how the record was intended to be heard. If you do not have a mono switch on your amp or pre-amp you will be reproducing the noise from the vertical part of the signal and so the record will not sound as good. This is not any fault of the record, it is inherent to playing any mono record through a system that it was not designed for.
