The higher value of sealed old stock LPs is usually due to collectors wanting to keep, and not open, original issues. Opening the seal changes the intrinsic nature and value of the object, the same as would apply to still sealed blister-packed/boxed collectable toys. Open copies of the same LPs are not worth as much to serious collectors because they then become far more common, however good the condition of the disc or sleeve.
