WOW!! For sale is an absolutely gorgeous, nearly pristine and almost certainly unplayed original 1984 Limited Edition Promo pressing of DIRE STRAITS - ALCHEMY - DIRE STRAITS LIVE on Quiex II translucent brown virgin vinyl. (Vinyl appears black but becomes translucent brown when held to light). The sleeve is in spectacular condition and the audio is guaranteed to be top notch with no groove wear and clear, crisp sound! Quiex II vinyl is specially formulated to produce as little surface noise as possible and is wonderfully quiet. These were often limited to promotional copies only.

The original owner (more about him below) took extremely good care of these records and only played them on high quality equipment. Many have never been opened. Many have never been played, and most that were played have only been played lightly. They have been in careful, climate controlled storage for 30+ years. More detailed description to follow below.

A play test may be requested, but based on my experience with others in this incredible collection of similar appearance, I have been blown away by the high fidelity of these records and many satisfied customers have said the same. I go to great lengths to describe in detail the record EXACTLY as it is. Check out our glowing feedback!

Truly one of the best copies you will find!!

Matrix/Runouts:

Note: (everything is etched besides MASTERDISK which is stamped)….

^ designates a triangle

A couple of letters could be symbols, like an H might be # or vice versa…the @ looks more like a lower case a, an O or another symbol. Lots of info on these, some hard to make out.

Sleeve: NM-

BEAUTIFUL crisp gatefold sleeve...sharp opening edges, nice corners and no major creases or bends. Slight corner bump (see pics) and very, very light wear. The front of the sleeve contains two hype stickers- one “2 LP Set” sticker and one “Limited Edition Quiex II” sticker as well as a white promotional copy sticker. No writing.

Discs: NM-

GORGEOUS discs retain all of their original glossy sheen...only a few superficial “spots” which must have been from contact with the poly lined inner sleeves, hence the minus, but again, everything mentioned is superficial and appear/disappear when tilted under bright light. This may come off completely with a vacuum or ultrasonic cleaner. There are no scratches or scuffs of any kind. Discs appear unplayed…absolutely NO spindle traces or evidence of play on labels and there is still even a small bit of untrimmed vinyl in the spindle hole of one which indicates it has never been put onto a turntable. As with many of the records in this collection, there is a very high chance it is 100% unplayed and it is guaranteed to have NO GROOVE WEAR, providing crisp, clear, STUNNING audio! TOP COPY!!

Labels: NM-

Labels are perfect with no unwanted writing or marks. No spindle traces or evidence of play. A small amount of factory wrinkling as you can see in the pics.

Inner: NM-

Original black poly sleeves are unsplit, untorn and only have light disc impressions with no major creases. No unwanted writing.

This copy is from the collection of Bob Senn - a renowned Santa Barbara, California DJ and program director for KTMS FM “The Rock on the Coast”. When Mr. Senn passed, his collection was acquired by my friend who has commissioned me to help sell them. There are thousands of records in the collection, almost all promotional copies in mint or close to mint condition.

Grading System:

SS (Still Sealed)

Unopened records, still in original shrink wrap. In original manufactured condition unless otherwise noted (i.e. evidence of mildew or bent corners, etc.)

M (Mint)

The record and sleeve are in perfect, original condition. The record may have been played but will have no evidence of deterioration. (I will only use this grade on SEALED records that appear to be Mint as I believe any non-new, opened record cannot be truly called MINT.

NM (Near Mint)

A nearly perfect record. Any visible defects are of the type that "disappear" when the record is tilted under a strong light and they should not affect play. Sleeves in near mint condition will have no obvious signs of wear. Practically imperceptible ring wear may be allowed but no creases, seam-splits, or other easily detected flaws will be present.

EX (Excellent)

A very clean record. Near mint except for slight, superficial signs of wear. Sleeves in this condition may have marginal defects, but will not have significant creases or splits.

VG+ (Very Good Plus)

A well-cared-for record that is noticeably less than perfect, but defects are not visually or audibly distracting. Record surfaces may have slight scuffs or light scratches, but are still primarily clean. Sleeves may have some creases or minor ring wear, but should not be split.

VG (Very Good)

A used, reasonable copy to play. Many of the defects found in a VG+ copy will be more pronounced in VG condition. Surface noise may be evident and sleeves may look worn, but the record is still a decent copy.

G (Good)

A well-worn record that is still playable. Good does not necessarily mean "bad" but a record in this condition will have audible distractions and may have visible groove wear. Sleeves may have all manner of defects, but are still intact.

FA (Fair) and P (Poor)

These grades are for beat-up records. I will only sell records in these grades if they are extremely rare and sought-after.
