CHARLES MINGUS

1960 recording features Mingus with a quartet

The version of "Original Faubus Fables"
on this album includes the

vocal sections condemning the governor of Georgia

Columbia Records refused to allow the
lyrics to Fables of Faubus,

one of Mingus' most pointed political
works to be included

on the 1959 recording Mingus Ah Um

The song was written as a protest
against Arkansas governor Orval E. Faubus

who sent the National Guard
to prevent the integration of
Little Rock Central High School

MUSICIANS

Charles Mingus – bass Ted Curson – trumpet Eric Dolphy – alto saxophone and bass clarinet Dannie Richmond – drums
